SPAM: American Income Life Insurance Company

This woman does not give up!!! This time there were images in the email, but my default is not to view them as a precaution. Also, who the heck is fowarding my resume to them all the time, and does she realise she is sending me multiple emails.

The truthful answer... noone... who knows... who cares... SPAM

I get the Toronto version of this scam. I've tried reverse-searching the phone number but it doesn't get any hits. Their address also turns up nothing. Bad sign for a business to be unlisted. Even their Canadian website looks fishy.
Good luck with the job hunt(s).

I am an american income life agent and i work as an independent contractor as does anyone in the company... the answer to your question is quiet simple because there are so many offices in so many locations it is only natural that people (recruiting agents)find people(like you) who post their resume online for the world to see! they are in fact trying to fill positions. however, i wouldn't feel to special because anyone who has any experience in customer relations or sales gets an offer since most recruiters for some of the companies get paid that way. The company is also union so they cannot advertise like some of it so called competition. i can tell you the company itself is very real and for the right people can be very lucritive... I can only tell you if you were not intrested in a job or being recruited why in the world did you post your resume on a site that millions of companies have access to... kinda silly huh? By the way when i myself got recruited the way you did it was in fact the head of the agency who called me personally...No Scam Involved

Ashley - Most legitimate companies do not recruit like this and I am sure you know that.

I think its outrageous that you are sarcastically commenting on people having their resumes posted on job sites as if that is unheard of and that all these people, me included, deserve to get spammed by American Income Life or any of the other aggressive "recruiting" spammers. Legit company or not, its a turn off and obviously a position that is hard to fill because clearly they will take anyone who responds to their emails.

I am sure I speak for most when I say that when you post a resume to a job site, you are interested in finding a job. So many people are out of work that it makes sense to put yourself out there. Maybe these people just don't want one selling financial products or insurance when that is not their background.

So frankly I think your post is "kinda silly" and agree with all the other posters considering these emails a scam.

Oh and lastly - I found my recruiting email from AIL in my spam folder.... never happened to any other job opportunities that were emailed to me from a job board... hmmmm

Kudos Mev! Ashley is a twit. Anyway, I got a call yesterday from AIL. I agreed to an interview for this morning. I have been out of work for 3 months now and haven't had to much luck. So when I got the call from AIL I was so happy but I this bad feeling about the situation as well. I need a job so badly that I jumped att the opportunity. Later that night I began to think about the phone conversation I had with the rep. I couldn't remember having ever applied with this company, so I checked the list I have of all the companies I've applied with, nothing. I checked all of my recent job searches on job websites, nothing. So I checked there website for more info about jobs available within the company, no listings shown. Send them your name and number and you will be contacted. Huh? And this made me think "Well what the hell is the position I'm interviewing for then?". So this morning I came across all the scam posts about this company. The complaints are staggering,I just couldn't believe it. The months of searching, interview prepping, networking, and now this bull****! Needless to say I was angry. So I went to the interview with my best business suit and worst attitude. I let that interviewer have it, she wasn't expecting someone with a perfectly poised business persona to have such a filthy mouth! I exercised the demon, tore up the fact sheet about the company that was given to me pre-interview placed it on her desk and sashayed out the door. I feel a little better now.

I started getting this crap the day after I posted my resume on Monster.com.

Well there back. I just got a call from a rep. stating she is from the HR dept. of american income and calling to schedule an interview. She spoke the name of the company so fast that I was uncomfortable. I had here to spell it out so that I may look up the company. Well, I found you all. commenting on this company. I won't waste my time going to an interview with a company that provides disception from the jump. They need to realize that there are professional people out here and their tactics will probably only work with kids. So Kudos to you Ashley for going and cursing their ass out!! wasting people time and taking advantage of people who are out of work. They suck!

I'm sorry that comment was for Athena's child .....

I too received a email this morning and did some research. I found that there is a actual website for this company and that they are in business in 49 states and also in Canada as well. I also went to the Better Business Bureau website and typed in the address for the branch that contacted me. There is BBB accreditation of A+ for their Headquaters located in Colorado but there was no accreditation listings for the smaller offices that I looked up. I have been out of work since I graduated college last year so at this point I'm not sure what I will do but after reading all of your posts and doing some research that brought me here I hope that the information that I found will help some of you in your decision making process.

I received a phone call from these guys today, scheduled an interview tomorrow. After what I've read over the past half-hour, I'm not going to the interview. And what amuses me is that I've read 3 different posts left by supposed employees, defending their company. Why do all three of the posts that I read (including YOURS, Ashley) have such gross misspellings and poor grammar? I will enjoy those extra 2 hours of sleep that I would be giving up to go to this shit interview. I am so tired of asshat companies like this taking advantage of unemployed people.

Old blog post but still an active topic...

I just received a phone call from a "hiring manager" for American Income Life Insurance. I said that they had the wrong number. When I tried to call back it rang a few times and eventually went to an AT&T automated voicemail. I kept calling the number immediately and the person on the other end was obviously ignoring my phone calls. It would ring 2, 3, or 4 times and go to voicemail. I'm a sceptic of anyone calling me from a cellular phone for a first time interview. I understand that some might not have a desk phone when they need to make calls, but you have to have a personalized voicemail box set up.

Independent contractor and union are contradicting terms. Contractors CANNOT BE UNIONIZED just look at the fight going on at the seaports with INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS AND THE TEAMSTERS. Your words just reiterate the word SCAM. And by the way I didn't post my resume for millions of companies to see just the ones that I an QUALIFIED to work for.

i to received an email from this company this morning- i asked her the position i had applied because i had applied for many positions- when she said its a customer service/initial management position- i became suspicious as i didn't remember the position i had ever applied for. she asked me basic question about my experience and scheduled interview for tomorrow. i went through all my email and saved job postings and found nothing. i went to the junk folder. and guess what...i saw d company tried calling me on a number which was not mine .... thanking me for my resume. i went through the company website- seemed fishy to me but saw a phone number- called on the number ( does not exist)- called on another number. phone was answered with the salutation of AIL Canada. i asked to confirm my interview time and venue. took my number and name. i got a call back from a different number from the same lady i spoke to initially. i confronted her that i have received few emails in my spam from the same company from a guy named Rick Altig ( state director) of AIL that someone contacted my from the company for interview. why would a state director email people for interviews and job opportunity. the lady talked to me pretty professionally but i will not waste my time going for the interview. its so frustrating when you are actually looking for a authentic job and you land in such bullshit. thanks to these forums- one can figure out what exactly he or she is heading for !!

For those that are not insurance sales people you maybe not seeing the forest for he trees. I to received a call today and like you logged on to research, I have been a life and mostly health agent for 9 years until Obama care basically took my job away so now I am moving to selling life insurance. Looks like this companie sells to yes wait for it union workers, which means they have a relationship and a baked in client. In other words prospects to see and that want the product. This is by far the hardest and most expensive part of selling insurance is finding the prospect. This is the real world, you have to go out and sell something, then you get a commission. If you do not understand the world of ABC (always be closing) then stay home you will be disappointed.

I received email from AIL too on my spam folder. But they getting smarter now on how to write the email, see below. But the fishy thing is this person does not call my name in the beginning. So I believe he will get his victims when they call him. Thanks for sharing guys, it really helps.

========================
I still have an open sales position in my office. With the experience you listed on your resume, I think you would be a good candidate for this.

Do you have some time this week to discuss? Please call my office at 860-632-0061 to set up a time for us to talk.

Hope to hear from you soon.
